No More Forwards {please?}

I think I've gotten 7 email forwards in the last 2 weeks about Big Love. As a Latter-Day Saint, yes, it's frustrating. But as it's been said time and again, there's no such thing as bad publicity. We're furthering the curiosities of others outside our faith to watch the episode everyone is screaming about.

I got my favorite forward today from an old roommate and I'm so glad I read this one. It included a link to the Church's Newsroom and their public statement which I've included here. It's long, so I won't post it in its entirety, but this section struck a chord with me:

"If the Church allowed critics and opponents to choose the ground on which its
battles are fought, it would risk being distracted from the focus and mission it
has pursued successfully for nearly 180 years. Instead, the Church itself will
determine its own course as it continues to preach the restored gospel of Jesus
Christ throughout the world."

I don't want to tell people to ignore it. It's something that cuts deep to many of us, but the statement made by Church officials really makes more sense, doesn't it?

I completely agree!!! I got the same forwards and was pretty upset. So I went to the church website and read what they had to say and forwarded THAT on to some close friends and family. It really does make much more sense. If we needed to really do something about it, we would be told to. Just like the Prop 8/Prop 102 issue in CA and AZ!

I'm so with you--and honestly--didn't even know anything was happening until I read someone's blog! Glad too. And she (Tiffani P.) had the best answer--with a list of questions basically to ask such as have you ever attended a ceremony where there are specific practices, where people where special clothing like robes, where everyone together changes their "clothes", etc.

And of course, most would say: No.

Then she said--ever been to someone's graduation from school? Same concept here people--just done in a sacred building with someone with authority (you know, like a professor, sort of) to lead it. LOVED IT!!!

My BFF sent me the newsroom link after I had already written my brother's thoughts on on my blog. I loved what they had to say! Maybe I should post again. We all know everything is going to be just fine. Someone made a comment today that made me laugh. They sauid, "If we, as members, sometimes fall asleep during a session (and we're the ones who know of its sacred nature)..can you imagine how many people are going to be bored by not understanding and probably change the channel due to their disappointment that we aren't sacrificing babies like they thought. "

I know I am so naughty but I am still going to watch the show!

Micah joined the Freemason's and the ceremonies are almost the same as well as the signs and tokens... honestly if you google sacred mormon temple ceremonies you can find it all on the internet...
you might not want to post this...
