Picture Perfect

Back in September I received an email questionaire from Latter-Day Brides, an exclusive store with temple-modest gowns that also publishes an annual magazine with tips and resources for the LDS community.

I had a few minutes (okay, it took about 45 minutes) and answered their list of questions and emailed them a few wedding pics.

Anyway, in October I received an email saying I was chosen to be in the magazine and asked my photographer's contact info.

I got this magazine in the mail last week!

and almost on the back page I found this handsome couple:

So, yes, it will probably be torn out of the magazine and scrapbooked in a shadowbox frame with our announcement, my bouquet and some other mementos.

This past weekend was the Sundance Film Festival. I've worked the festival for the last 3 years now and each year seems colder and colder.

This year was for Function Drinks. This stuff is actually really good. I'm hooked on their Urban Detox (even though it's main marketing is a hangover cure) and it's prickly pear goodness.

The only bad thing about the festival was that on Friday night I started getting sick. On Saturday I felt like CRAP and on Sunday I only felt minimally better.

I stayed home on Monday and Tuesday and felt really bad because I knew how many things I had to do that would rollover to today. And when I started the day, I had 215 to-dos. My normal day is 30-45. YIKES!

Try my hardest, but I only got down to 179 today, and tomorrow adds another 30. It's going to be a long long couple of weeks.

So, in other news, my birthday is a month from today! It's kind of depressing that I'll be 25...I feel really old and unaccomplished and nowhere close to where I'd like to be personally.

I brought a lot of debt into mine and Ryan's marriage and feel so responsible for getting out of it...easier said than done....I found this article on MSN today and I'm going to pose the challenge to Ryan for us to start living like poor college students. That means getting rid of our DVR service and our extra channels...goodbye SciFi Channel :(

With Ryan's car engine having to be completely replaced (setting us back another $3k) and the prospect of Ryan being in school for the next four years, it's definitely something to do...if it means waiting a few more years for kids (I really really hope not).

Other than that, nothing new. It's been a whirlwind weekend and I'm looking forward to a slower Friday/Saturday/Sunday this week.

Hey you're famous! Your pic is really pretty, too. After we got married, the place we had the reception at took out an ad in the Idaho Wedding Guide and used a couple of our pics (probably my least favorite of the bunch...come to think of it, I'm not even sure how they got them.)They've used those pictures every year since then. I wish they would find someone new to put in there. :)

And that article is really great. I think just about everyone in America needs to read it!

Hi There, I was blog surfing and found your blog.

Yes, the college years are super crappy! We have been married for 5 and a half years and my husband is still in college. He is about done with his PHD in Marriage and Family Therapy (we started out at BYU). He will finish in about 2 years. It's been a struggle, and still is. I must say I am so glad that we did it. We have struggled together and have learned so much about each other.......our strengths and weaknesses, highs and lows. I see other people my age with huge houses and all their wants and desires met. Even though I don't have all of those things I do have a husband that loves me and a beautiful little girl. Some things are just more important, and satisfying than money.

I have this little crafty picture on the wall in my kitchen that my aunt gave me when were were first married. It says,"Be happy with what you have and you'll always have something to be happy about".

Yes, yours is backwards, but after a while it will become a habit. Ryan and I both had debt coming into our marriage and did the consolidated loans thing. We actually paid off all of our debt while being college students. Now we are in the habit of not even using credit cards or anything we don't have. I can see us keeping the habit after we are FINALLY out of the college years. Well, with the exception of my Old Navy card. I do give myself a limit. Although, if I didn't live 5 min from a Gap Outlet I probably wouldn't use it at all.

So, long story short, there is financial freedom even as college students, or living like one:)

Anyway, just think nail bitting, you can do it! By the way, I'm going to try that starting today.

Your picture is bee-U-tiful (as Callie would say)! Good luck with the poor college student thing! No really, like I said, I'm glad that Jeremiah & I struggled so much in the beginning - it definitely brought us closer together. Trials will do that.

Hey! I was just running around the internet and checked the blog - I love it and how you update it... I love the magazine article - you are so cute and of course they chose you!

Also - I think you have to consciously live within your means... and my means involve realizing I have almost 1k in loan payments per month and another 1600 in mortgage... we are fine, but we don't pay for the gym (we're actually running in the outdoors and on the treadmill and I have freeweights and videos) and we don't have cable or internet (free neighbor wireless) and it is crazy how used to it we are... the major splurge in life is netflix - $20 per month! I'd love to have cuter stuff for the house and cute new clothes, but I really love the stressfree living on knowing that your income covers your outflow...

Anyway, love the blog, much luck on the long term financial planning!!!
