I'm coming off a shopping high

Wednesday night I was in Roberts and heard some woman talking about a sale the next day (Thurs from 7p-11p) and was glad I eavesdropped. 50% off your entire purchase?! wha? Yes, I know. So I thought, oh, I can stop in and grab something for my mom's b-day really quickly. riiiiighhht....

I've never seen Roberts so crowded. The lines were to the back of the store and I knew it wasn't going to be a quick 'grab-n-go' after I had to weave my way to the area I needed to get in. So I sent my dear husband to run his errands and an hour later just told him to head home when he was done and I'd have Kayleigh bring me home. I stood in the checkout line for 1 hr 20 min. It was longer than Black Friday.

But lookie what I scored:

This isn't the best picture. This is cut out of a thin wood and absolutely COVERED in black glitter.

Pardon the messy house - we have a guest right now and some of the stuff is his.

I got this one for my mom, but think I could easily make it. The moon is just wood, and the witch is made from a metal piece, painted and glittered and attached, but I think it would be just as cute to make it out of chipboard.

Kayleigh found some really cute felt embellishments that she's going to attach to hairpins (for Callie I think). So fun.

It came!

After my griping on Tuesday, I got home and a lovely brown box was waiting for me with a brand spankin' new pan inside. Hooray! I was sooo going to go to the SurLaTable @ the Gateway and get it and then just return mine when they finally shipped it to me (that was last saturday, mind you) but when I called them to make sure they had it, they informed me it sells out as fast as they get it. wowsers.

Anyway, a cake to come!

oh! and our friends the Ritters are having their first baby in January and just found out it's a girl! Yay! Now it's time for me to come up with a cute little 'congratulations, girlie' basket for Casey. Any ideas, fellow crafters?

Shipping frustrations

So I was really excited about my new cupcake pan from Sur La Table and it looks like it's taking forever and a day to get here! Are they shipping by boat? for the love....

I won't have it until Friday. Looks like i'll be baking up some love this weekend...Ryan will be camping Friday night and then works Saturday. It's going to be a looooonnnnngggg weekend.

Three great things this week.

1) I have a new manager who I think will really be a great asset to BrainStorm. Why? she shows up to work and asks questions about using the tools but doesn't ask the same questions over and over AND she's getting it! Totally fits in with the office environment, even though she's the only one that's not LDS, she fits in so much better than a last few of the people that left.

2) I sold my Neon!!! I didn't get full asking price, but that's okay. I was more afraid of it sitting for another month (paying insurance on it) than selling it. Such a relief it's sold.

3) Tara and I found this AWESOME Cupcake Cake pan today and I was smitten. Many of you probably know I love cupcakes, based on the times I've discussed them and made them and shared the pictures. I'm a woman obsessed! So, if any of you need a birthday cake, I'm going to start making these and offering my baking services for $10/cake :) Yum Yum. This is what they'll look like (stock photo)...mmmm...yummo.

Oh Happy Day

I love the Martha Stewart Kids magazine and am really sad they don't have it anymore. The set goes for ridiculous amounts on ebay and so I started looking for a few I would love to use someday. I stumbled upon MS baby! I got 3 the other day and really really wanted the others so I have been searching google daily, hoping someone has added a site or blurb about it on their sites. and today....SUCCESS!

This is the info I found out:

"To order back issues of Martha Stewart Living, Martha Stewart Weddings, Everyday Food, Blueprint, Baby (no longer published), Kids (no longer published), or special issues, please call our single-copy division toll-free at 800-274-6800. For back issues of Body+Soul, please e-mail najr@kable.com"

So I called the # up and a really nice man named Felix helped me order 4 issues of Martha Stewart Baby for cheaper than I could ever get them on ebay (basically, it's cover price +$2 postage). I should have them in 3-5 days. Hoorrrrahhhh!

I'm in LOVE

As I mentioned, Natalie opened an Etsy shop called NPBeads. She's back at BrainStorm for the next week or so until we lose her to California for good and I saw these gems on her site and mentioned how much I love them and look what I found on my desk the next morning! I was sooo excited, especially after I put them on and realized how dang cute they are on. what a great friend -- Nice work, Nat!

Also, on Sunday I used some blueberries (that I scored on sale by ad-matching Target for $1.50/package) to make a pear/blueberry tart thing. It was really sweet...almost too sweet for me, which, that's saying something.

Also, I needed to use up some strawberries I'd made for shortcake and some french bread so I made some *experimental* strawberry and raspberry bread pudding, one of my fave desserts. I haven't tasted it yet, but I'm taking it to work tomorrow so my coworkers will have to be the judge. yum-o!

Birthday & Swiss Days

Happy Birthday, DAD! My dad is probably one of the most giving men I've ever known. He is always willing to help someone out when they need it and is one of my favorite people to watch comedies with (I've never heard him laugh as hard as he did watching The Simpsons Movie, except maybe with Home Alone). Thanks for being great!

Swiss Days!
I've never been before but I've heard such great things about it. I REALLY want to go this year but don't know if my husband would be up for it. Anyone wanna carpool up there? Shannon? Lindsay?

Gracias to LeahMarie

I got tagged...by LeahMarie if you couldn't already guess by the title. This is probably the only one of these I'll do, and it's only being done because she mentioned my name specifically.

I don't mind these things, but 10 yrs ago is a long time for me to remember...

Five things I was doing 10 years ago:

1. Starting my sophomore year at Kingman High

2. Just getting my driver's permit and taking drivers ed with this big teacher dude that had a HUGE beer gut and I think might have also been a track coach.

3. Okay, this is lame, but I can't think of 2 other things (technically 3)

4.
5.

Five songs I know the lyrics to:

1. Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart - no clue why I loved it so much.

2. Almost any song by Jem (who we're naming our first girl after)

3. Banana Pancakes - Jack Johnson

4. Around the World - Daft Punk (he he...this is a funny one if you've ever seen THIS and THIS)

5. If you like pina coladas

Five Things I Would Buy if I Were a Millionaire:

1. Pay off debt (that's not really buying things, though, because they've already been bought, right?)

2. A modest house. nothing too flashy, because lets be honest, those are well over a million dollars nowadays

3. A vacation home in Portugal (for Ryan)...again modestly priced.

4. plastic surgery :)

5. a lifetime gym pass.

Five Things I Would Never Wear Again:

1. The skinny clothes I wore 2 yrs ago. Oh, i'll get skinny again, but those are out of style now.

2. Second pair of earrings (thanks, leahmarie, i agree)

3. Gaucho pants. I love them, but when Ryan and i were dating I bought a pair and he absolutely hated them so I never wore them again. I should have taken them back but I didn't know how things would turn out for us and other people complimented them, so now they're in my closet and will probably go to DI

4. Dresses with sunflowers and lace on them. (Nat and Becka might cringe at this answer because it seems a bit mean....but it's true! I wore that garb in 7th grade and I struggled with it then!)

5. Matching shirt tops with stretchy shorts...they really shouldn't have ever been invented. (Mine had those ever-appearing sunflowers on them)

Five Things I Would Like to Do:

1. Explore Spain and Portugal

2. Buy and old house and restore it to its beauty...an arts and crafts house preferrably

3. Have kids (sometime next year, actually)

4. Pay off debt and live comfortably

5. Somehow make gas prices be perma-low.

Five Favorite Toys:

1. My husband

2. The internet

3. modpodge

4. TV and Tivo (DVR? I'm too cheap for actual TiVo, whatever comcast has)

5. my oven.

My Favorite Part of the Day

is every morning when I'm ready to leave for work and I see my husband sleeping in bed (that's not my favorite) and when I go to give him a hug and a kiss and tell him I'm leaving, he's still half asleep but smiles when I say I love you.

I wait for that smile in the morning. It keeps me going. :)
